Excursion to Saranda and Butrinto National Park from Corfu

The proximity of Albania’s southern coast to the Greek island of Corfu makes for an unforgettable boating experience. Many travellers choose to visit Corfu but take a day trip to Saranda and the Butrinto National Park .

The cruise excursion takes place on board a ship from the port of Corfu. The first port of call is the town of Saranda. From there, a guided bus tour of 20 km along the south coast of Albania begins.

The destination is Butrinto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a marvellous archaeological site on which monuments of different civilisations that have inhabited the Mediterranean have been superimposed. The visit will take you to the Venetian Tower near the entrance, the ancient theatre, the Temple of Asclepius, the ancient gymnasium, the Roman Baths, the Roman Baptistery with its priceless mosaic floor, the Lions’ Gate and the enormous cyclopean walls will take you back in time from 2,500 years ago to the 3rd century A.D.

After the visit we return to Saranda for lunch and a stroll around the town before returning by boat to the island of Corfu.
